This classic 1906-P Indian Head Cent makes a great addition to any collection. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Designed by James B. Longacre, Indian Head cents are considered the most beautiful bronze U.S. But they are seldom seen today. Obverse depicts Liberty in a Native American headdress. Reverse of coin features oak wreath and shield.

Your 1908 Indian head penny value may be at the low end of the scale, however it is an important year in penny production. Finding the Valuable 'S' Mintmark Adding to the large production of Philadelphia mint pennies, a relatively small number of 1908 Indian head pennies were minted in San Francisco. Designed by James B. Longacre, the Indian Head cent is considered the most beautiful bronze U.S. Obverse features Liberty in a Native American headdress, while reverse of coin depicts oak wreath and shield. In 1906, the San Francisco Mint was one of few buildings to survive the earthquake and fire that destroyed much of the city.
